The following procedure outlines the steps to be taken to gain external access to the WAGER data collections.
Access to any of the WAGER datasets cannot be guaranteed by WAGER as this requires the approval of each of the data Custodians involved in the request. External users will be required to enter into negotiations with individual Custodians within WAGER for access that will necessarily involve defining authorship and cost recovery.
Download and read the WAGER Collection External Access Policy before commencing your application (the Policy outlines important information about accessing any WAGER resources).
Send the completed Request to the WAGER Manager by post or email (high quality scans). You are strongly advised to contact the Manager to discuss your Request first.
WAGER reviews the Request for Data Access.
Submit a formal application to WAGER. WAGER reviews the formal application and supplies the contact details for the Custodian(s).
When the WAGER Manager obtains written agreement from the Custodian(s) to provide access to the Study data, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) will be forwarded to the applicant for signing.
WAGER assists in the development of a Material Transfer Agreement (MTA) for the transfer of data between WAGER and the Researcher.
When the signed MOU and MTA have been received by the WAGER Manager the data will be provided via the WAGER website. Data will not be provided for approved projects until evidence is provided that the appropriate Institutional HREC approval has been granted, and the responsible investigators have undertaken in writing to abide by stated conditions.
